gingerbread for inc2 info

OK. Question. I am coming from the Droid x. I am the happy owner of the Inc 2. How do I know this update is not going to be a disaster ,like Gingerbread was on The X ?

well, ceztheday, you've got 2 options from what I can see.

1. When you get the notification, cross your fingers, DL + install the OTA and see for yourself.

2. Do NOT accept the OTA notification when you see it and instead, check the forums for people's reactions to the update. I'm sure there will be plenty of chatter about it.

After 4 replacement Moto Droid X's, VZ is sending me an Incredible 2, eta later today.

I'd like to get the phone set up and become comfortable with it prior to any updates.

Like ceztheday, I'm terrified the GB update will trash the Inc2 as it did my DX.

If I "refuse" the GB update, will I be able to obtain it later after reviews are out and experiences better known?

Thanks,
dan

A little caution seems wise. Even if the system updates OK I'm wondering how it will impact the various third party apps I'm using.

Purple - yes, you can just ignore/refuse (I don't know what the wording will be) the update and, at a later date, do settings-->about phone --> system updates (I'm still on an Eris running 2.1 atm, so that path might not be 100% accurate on your DInc2, but you get the idea).

Victec - you are correct, sir. Caution is always good. However, if everyone did option #2, then there would be no one here on the forums giving their 2.3.x impressions. :p

I plan on jumping in and updating as soon as I get my phone on Wednesday -ASSUMING, of course, that the update will be out by then, which is really anyone's guess at this point...

I was hoping this was the case.

With my DX, I just woke up one morning and the GB update was there on the phone, waiting on me, after trashing lots of things. Way to go, MOTO.

Has anyone gotten the GB OTA notification yet?

I don't mean to sound like a dick here, but this question really does not need to be asked. When OTA's hit, you will know it. Many existing threads will be updated by people with it while many new threads will be created announcing it.

There will be much jubilation. You'll probably be able to hear the sounds of people celebrating 3 towns over. 3D fireworks and confetti will fly from your computer screen. People will fall in love. Statues of Palpatine on Coruscant will be torn down, while giant statues of the android will be erected in their place.

*Edit*
All of these ^^^ things actually did happen when the Eris went from 1.5 to 2.1. Just ask theTomlin.
