Anyone else having their GPS lock up? Sometimes it works, but most of the time after 5 minutes or so the GPS will lock up. Google Navigation says GPS signal lost. I exist Navigation and the GPS fix icon is still in the notification bar. However, I can go to Google Maps or GPS Test and it will never get a fix on the sats.

yes me too! anyone have a solution?

yep me too. its been a known issue with all the leaks and for official release they never fixed it

Got my update OTA last night it mine seems to work fine. Better in fact. It actually works inside now (at work) where it didn't before. No lock ups or anything.

my gps was fine w/ froyo, now it's broken. it works the first time after power cycle. if i exit nav & start it again, it stops working and i have to power cycle to get gps working again.

Ditto. I had to apply this fix:

GPS FIX for Gingerbread leak - xda-developers

I am rooted, but I don't know if you need to be. I know you have to have the CWM recovery installed...

Here is how to install CWM recover and root:

Awesome fix regression. I didn't go so far as to root the phone so it can be done with just clockwork installed. it also seemed to cure a couple of the other issues I was having. Think I am going to have to look a little further into this root thing! lol Seems the guys at Android Creative Syndicate and xda know how to actually upgrade our phones! Who knew?

Yeah, one of the many things I am thankful for this Thanksgiving are the awesome guys at ACS and xda.

My phone had never been rooted before, so I had to complete that first, before installing the GPS fix. I had a MISERABLE time of getting all of the drivers installed on my PC. But once I invented some new words, and finally got all drivers working (the serial driver in download mode was the trickiest of them), I was happy I spent the time to do this fix.

I haven't used the GPS much on my phone, since upgrading to Gingerbread. Most of my usage was from here in the house, just to compare my device's performance, to those reported by other users. I noticed that I could get four satellites at best, from complete stock. Since doing this fix, I can now see 8 or 9 satellites, with a fix from all of them. It's as good as being outside.

Position errors, in my brief testing, are now down to as little as eight feet.

Bottom line--GPS is much better!! Thanks to those of you who took the time to make this fix possible.

What Ive found is that it's google Nav that loses the gps signal after a few minutes, however my GPS Status program as well as my Sprint Telenav program have no trouble maintaining the connection. It doesnt seem like its the gps signal but rather nav's ability to stay connected to it.

Has anybody else found this?
