Gingerbread - IC Sandwich in the UK - very basic question

[chevalierdarcy]

Sorry guys for a very basic question. I have a near zero knowledge of many things so be patient...

I live in the UK and I am considering to get Galaxy Note on a pay monthly contract with some British provider (didn't choose yet).
My question: Galaxy Note comes with Gingerbread right now. When IC-Sandwich is available to Galaxy Note (presumably on the 2nd quarter of this year) will it be possible for me to upgrade from Gingerbread to IC-Sandwich? And how do you do that? Is it downloadable or ... ? I told you this would be very basic. I'm sorry. Please help.
Cheers

You would receive the an OTA (Over the air) update. So basically you will receive a notification on your phone stating an update is available.
