I never had any problems while running on 2.2. I updated to 2.3.3 and I have nothing but problems, especially with texting. I use the default text app and almost every single time I'm in a text conversation with someone it either crashes, or I can't see what the keyboard is typing, or the keyboard won't even come up. I kill the texting process but the problem comes back. I do a reset of my phone and the problem is back immediately.

I have even erased my SD card, erased the internal memory of my phone, and the problem is still present. It's so bad that I consider texting not really an option anymore. I see no solutions from Google, no patches, etc..

So, my only hope is to revert back to 2.2 somehow. Is this possible? What other options are there?

What phone are you using? Are you using a custom ROM/kernel?

This might be better answered in the phone specific forums.

Edit: Mitch you wiley speed demon, you. Some would even say you are turbo.

Do you use a task killer? (if you do uninstall it or make sure it's not set NOT to auto-stat and NOT to auto-kill apps)

Also, have you tried a full factory reset?

This sounds like 1 of 3 things:

1) a task killer is behaving badly

3) some other app is behaving badly (which you would need to wipe your phone and install one by one to see which, or post a list here and we might be able to see which app it is). You can use my app Listables to make a list of your apps, make sure to include all system apps (in preferences).

2) there is a hardware issue with your phone.

If the above doesn't work try calling HTC, they have VERY good customer service.

I don't have any task killers but I have to go to the app manager and shut down the msg app when it crashes or else it will not work again. I have done a factory reset which erased all of my data. I also formatted my SD card, and took it out for a while. I reinstalled some of my apps manually but have not bothered with the rest.

The apps I have downloaded and installed are:
flash 10.2
aim
colornote
documents to go
dropbox
yahoo messenger
pandora

Then whatever comes with vanilla android and 2.3.3 by default. It's a vanilla android 2.3.3 on the N1.

Another issue that I've had lately is when I go to my app list and long press in order to place an app on my homescreen, the app does not show up. It does nothing... until I restart my phone, then it shows up. In the past I've tried many attempts to place an app on my homescreen, which doesn't work, but then I restart my phone and end up with 6 shortcuts to the app on my homescreen.

Honestly this sounds to me like a hardware problem then. I'd call HTC. I had a hardware problem on my N1, and called them and they sent me a replacement (and box to send in my old N1) within like 2 days. I just had to put a deposit down until they received my old N1. They were really easy to deal with, I was surprised. And as soon as my old N1 arrived they canceled the charge on my CC.
