Gingerbread keyboard on Vibrant....

.....is AWESOME! Just downloaded the APK last night and loaded it up. It is a tad bit smaller, but by this morning I am already used to the size difference. Very very responsive and the text prediction is phenomenal. I would highly recommend everyone to try it out. Easily the best keyboard I have used on the Vibrant so far.

Grab it here : Renamed Gingerbread Keyboard - xda-developers

This phone just keeps getting better and better. :D

Swiftkey is still the best IMO. They upgraded their keyboard recently too, and I don't think I'll ever want to use anything different.

Did you install it with appsinstaller?

It was really easy. Install the apk on your pc. Connect your phone via usb. Copy the apk to your sd card. Open appsinstaller, click on the apk....and your good to go.

Can anyone confirm that the vibrate is working or not working on their Vibrant. And yes i know, i went to settings and a check mark is next to the vibrate option.

Ya i installed it with appinstaller says it is installed when I open the apk file a second time but it only shows me the android, swype, samsung and vlingo keybooards.

It is not working for me either.

That's odd. I've done it twice now on my vibrant and my friends as well. Had no problems. I'm sure there is some help on xda....I'm just not sure what the problem would be, sorry.

select input method

then select the various keyboard options!

Enjoy! :)

I have Axura 2.2 on my phone and with that the GB keyboard came with it. I also have the HTC IME keyboard which is pretty cool also but it isnt quite as good as the GB keyboard. I still use Swype most of the time though.

FOR ALL OF YOU WHO DOWNLOADED THE GINGERBREAD KEYBOARD A WHILE AGO AND THE KEYBOARD IS SMALL AND DOES NOT VIBRATE... UNINSTALL THE KEYBOARD AND GO BACK TO THE XDA FORUM AND DOWNLOAD IT AGAIN!! It finally works!!

I stopped using Swype because I was tired of it adding every single word I typed regularly and swyping with it was getting laggy more often it seemed. I was using the Android keyboard for the past few weeks and I am very glad to be using the GB keyboard now. Thanks!

I pretty much use swype but recently been using SwiftKey. Now that is pretty awesome. It is in the market with a free trial then $3. 99 if you want to keep it.

There is a video demo of it on youtube if you never heard of it. Not sure if they have a website, but would think they do.

EDIT**

Here is a demo from youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uHrTT0XAPJg

GB keyboard is a great addition.

Yep, I'm having the same problem....no vibrate with the new gingerbread keyboard. Downloaded the keyboard app from Market named GingerKeyboard v.2.1. Anyone have a fix or another version that has the vibrate feedback?

+1 for Gingerbread Keyboard. I was bummed the Android keyboard disappeared after the update but this works just as well. From looking at the video it looks like SwiftKey is better at predictive, but I always type out my messages completely and just like the auto-corrections that the Gingerbread/Android keyboard have so that already serves my purpose.

I've been using the gingerbread keyboard for a couple days now. The word prediction is great, but it is MUCH slower for me than swype. Swype had a learning curve of a couple days for me, but I'm going back to swype.

Settings>Locale and text>GB keyboard setting>advanced settings>custom vibration intensity, change from system default to normal.

This did the trick for me
