Gingerbread Launcher

Go grab it from the market, very nice, much prefer it to the stock LGHome launcher.

I tried it, but it doesn't differentiate between stock apps and downloaded apps, like our current launcher does. I might grow to like it after I've pruned more of the stock apps off. But right now I want to know the difference. ;)

Can you remove the stock apps without rooting?

Yes and no. Let me explain. There are some stock apps you can just uninstall, no questions asked.

But the "Metro" related apps you need root to get rid of. HOWEVER, with the root app I used, you can choose "temporary" or "permanent" root. Temporary just last for that session, until you power down/power back up the phone. Then you aren't rooted anymore. For some people scared of rooting, who just want to quickly uninstall some crap, then go back to normal -- that would be the best choice.

I downloaded the root app to my computer (it's not in the Market). Then, gmailed it to myself so it showed up on the phone, and installed from there.

I just set up the gingerbread launcher of my phone but when I hit the center "app" button it appears to be bugged and the rows of apps are off-center/pixelated and the "home" button at the bottom is pixelated. Any idea what could be causing this? I have a rooted optimus m

which Gingerbread launcher did you use? There's a "stock" Gingerbread (use that one) and I found a "3D" customized Gingerbread launcher that acts just like you described. It sounded cool, but it doesn't work with our phone -- it was customized to fit a different sized screen. I uninstalled that one pronto. I then went and found stock.

I always like new things and I'm keeping it, but is there any way to get 7 home screens? Also the bar across the bottom had Phone, Contacts, App Drawer, Messenger, Web. Now it's just Phone, Apps, Web. I liked having the messenger button there. If I could even switch the web app to the messenger one I'd be okay with that.

Sheesh. Did I mention I'm uber new to smart phones? Just realized the "bar across the bottom" IS the launcher. Same questions apply. Thanks!
