Root Gingerbread on desire

Hey. I'm planning to root my phone and install 2.3 gingerbread OS.
Is it possible for me to install 2.3 gingerbread with htc sense?

HTC announced that there will not be any 2.3 upgrades for htc desire? Is this just for people that don't root their phone to install 2.3 OS?

But HTC did release Gingerbread for the Desire, Sense included. You can download it here. No rooting required. Running the RUU file will wipe your phone though, and debrand it (no goldcard needed) so back up your stuff first.

edit: and since you're in and/or around the States, be aware that having a cdma phone will limit what's available to you.
