Gingerbread on original Droid.

[SekiTimewalker]

I've done some research and couldn't find anything about it getting Gingerbread. Does anyone know if it was definitely confirmed or denied?

Apologies if this seems like stating the obvious, but have you asked in the Motorola Droid section?

...Wow, I have no excuses. I did not see that entire section. My apologies. Now I feel embarrassed.

nope. it hasnt been rumored but root + rom = gingerbread cm7 or liquid or almost anything else with base off 2.3.4 and 2.3.5

I did not see that entire section. My apologies.

No need for apologies; Android Lounge was a good choice of fallback.

I see you've reposted in the Droid forum here, so I'll close this to prevent confusion.
