Gingerbread update broke wifi..HTC admit fault

I find the wifi signal issue to be a proplem of over provisioning for power saving. The idle disconnect is actually set to a much lower value than earlier versions in the power tables/source.

Mind you, you shouldnt have the wifi issue with 2.50, but instead its traded off for the animated gps "locking" icon up in the notification bar that does not going away (infinite loop)(same bug found in 2.43.661.1).

folks,
I installed gingerbread on my Desire yesterday and the wifi was dropping constantly and would only reconnect after stopping/starting wifi.. only to drop again 10 mins later

looked around forums with loads of different suggestions - none worked.

I've got a Draytek 2820 - setting the wifi channel manually (I used 6) as opposed to Auto on the router fixed this problem immediately

let me know how you get on

Maff
