Help Gingerbread update for rooted phone?

I keep getting a thing for the update and it restarts my phone, starts downloading, then fails right away.. Is there an easy way I can manually put it on my phone? I keep seeing that people have been having problems trying to do it through Odin and I really don't want to lose all of my apps for no reason haha.

well how did you do it? lol i need to know i dont want to odin an loose everything. also tried teminal emulator and that doesnt work. ok no need to un root lol...updated with odin. so easy..
