Gingerbread Update Question?

Okay so my Optimus is rooted. but i haven't flashed a custom rom because i want to wait for the official 2.3 update which is coming soon. I will still get the update right ? even if the phone is rooted ?

To my understanding, you can still get it, but after installing you will no longer be rooted. So, it might not be wise to be one of the first to put in on your phone in case re-rooting is difficult. Also, Metro does not do over the air updates.
 
gingerbreak was made for android 2.3 gingerbread so after the update we should still be able to root using it.
 
What I would do is wait for the update, then wait for someone to root it and remove bloatware and post a rooted 2.3 rom that way u can just flash it without having to worry about root. But I could be wrong lol

Oh alright. So if metro doesn't do over air the updates then how would i get the update then?

The previous update (2.2.1) was a download so it's safe to say LG will continue using this method. Question is will the LG Update servers come back online for it, since they haven't been working for weeks.
