Root GingerShedBread/GSB

If you want the ICS launcher on the Eris, CondemnedSoul's is the one - it's the default on the ROM. I personally don't like it - the app tray looks horrific, IMHO, on the Eris - but that's the way that I would go.

Yes, full wipe would be required.

Spend a few bucks on TitaniumBackup, have it backup all user apps in GSB now, and when you flash CondemnedSoul use Titanium's batch mode to restore all missing user apps. It brings back data, settings, etc. You'll just need to go through and set up the launcher and the global settings again.

Oh, and flash xtrCache2cache as well. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924562

Thanks! I just backed everything up and flashed Condemned; while I am unsure if I still like Condemned or not I will give it some time. I just feel like I am bit picky with launchers. No big, I'll find something!

I actually installed LauncherPro over it and it works well. I still have the Roboto font and love it. I also still have the ICS launch animation and wallpaper. Just a personal preference that works for me.

Dang it. I tried CS's ICS version and I botched it. Did a Titanium Backup beforehand. Even deleted the Andoid secure folder. Then I flashed it... Yep, I forgot to wipe Dalvik & data! :-(
Kept giving me low memory warnings, freezing, and requiring fc's. Nandroid restored back to GSB but now I'm still getting low memory warnings, Maps won't update, and My Apps is telling me I don't have Quick Pic and Rom Manager installed. I know I don't have them installed but they weren't supposed to be installed anyway since they came with CS's ROM, and I don't have them backed up anywhere. I tried downloading them just to uninstall them but there they are, still listed as not installed apps.

I had such a smooth running Eris too but my exuberance went and buggered it. :-(

Have you tried go launcher? I've been playing with that lately as well and I'm quite pleased with it myself. Just a suggestion :)

Well, just go back into Recovery, wipe data and dalvik, flash CondemnedSoul and start again. You may want to flash xtrcache2cache as well.

That was my first reaction after I restored was to try again, and cache2cache has been my best friend for a while now. Still getting some of the same issues pop up.
But I'm stubborn, so my Eris isn't going to have a choice but to work right again.

On the positive side, TiBu finally stopped the FC's and I can now restore some apps, albeit I've learned I can't restore all at once, but in increments.
