Root GingerVillain 1.7 stuck on GV bootscreen

You restored wrong.

Boot recovery and wipe.

Then backup your titanium folder to pc. Open titanium and delete any backup that's specific to sense apps or Rom.

When you restore, restore "missing apps with days"

Sms, call logs, I use mybackup

I have selected "restore all apps with data" i should do "restore missing apps with data"???
My Titanimbackup was made on defrost wich isnt a sense rom.

Have you tried flashing from defrost without wipe?

If you ever backed up a sense Rom, those backups still there unless you deleted.

Slightly random, but i see you're running the HAVS-AXI-CFS kernel SUroot, switched to that yesterday but had to change as i was getting random freezes... i read somewhere that it shouldn't be overclocked beyond 1113MHz i think it was, so limited it to this but was still geting FC's and random restarts. Using Smartass governor.

Any ideas?

1) stay away from smartass
2) If you have screen off, set min 128 but max as more than this (I use 245)
3) Use same governor for screen on and off (Ondemand is my pref)

Great, well i'll give it another try later as i was happy with the performance and battery life on it, just got annoyed with the FC's

I did wonder whether smartass was going to be the problem. Cheers :)

Not sure about the force closes to be honest, but certainly general performance issues, this will help.

Well, it's worth a try to be honest. It generally seems to be the best performing Eviollet kernel for me (minus the closes and freezing) so will give it one more chance. Failing that, any recommendations for which of richards kernels to use?

I also had performance issues with smartass, swiched to ondemand overcklocked it to 1190 and its flying ... no FC's the phone work smooth.

If you're not changing the voltages via sysfs on eviollet by the way, 1190Mhz is over volting (more heat) and could damage your CPU after a while. Just so you know. More a diclaimer than a warning.

Most kernels 1190 is same as 998 in mV (1300mV I think) but eviollet likes to add a bit more power to make it smoother.

I have mine at 1113 personally but used to use 1152. Thats not overvolted. You can change your voltages anyway, so you could try that too.

I realty like GV but defrost seem to be faster on stock kernal.
Maybe there are kernals that will offer better performance and will not expose to risk the phone when overclocking it and of corse not to much battery drain for that performance?

seemed faster how? Youre experiencing lag? GV is faster than defrost in my experience.

Overclocking is fine with an undervolted kernel. I use eviollet, but 1190 and possibly 1152 is not undervolted. Slightly over infact so I stick to 1113. I can change the top end voltage but just havent.

Did you go settings, Cyanogen, performance

Set vmheap to 32, lock home in memory and disable surface dithering?

VM heap size = 32
lock home in memory = cheked
enable surrface dithering = checked (should it be uncheked?)

I have updated LauncherPro to v0.8.4.1 and it smeems smother .
