Root Gingervillain wont boot past splash screen

Bresy

Lurker
Hi I need help please ....

I put a mates micro sd card into my phone and tuned it on but it hung at splash screen ... the screen stays for about 30sec then screen goes black for a sec before going back to splash screen. this continues in a loop.

I put my original sim card back in and it does the same thing. So I decided to reflash gingervillain as mine was on 2.5 so I reflashed it to the new 3.3 ..... But it is still hung up on same splash screen almost 30mins now.

Any ideas guys .... I can still get into the recovery mode no problem

Can I be clear: you put your friend's SD card in, then you put your SIM in. Was that a typo, i.e. do you mean you put your SD back?

If your card is partitioned and you are using the ROM's a2sd script then I'd not expect it to just work if you switch cards - the procedure for swapping cards in that case is to take a nandroid, partition the new card, copy the nandroid to the new card, boot into recovery with new card in phone and restore nandroid.

However, if you just swapped cards when using a2sd I'd expect swapping back and rebooting should fix, so I'm guessing it's not so simple.

Anyway, to answer your question, wiping wipes the apps (including those on sd), settings and sd-ext, but does not affect the sd card contents otherwise. But you could try putting your card in (if not already) and clearing just cache and dalvik and see whether it will boot. If not then yes, a wipe would be the next thing to try.

Thank you and yes sorry that was a typo I put my sd card back in not Sim. I tried to wipe cache and dalvik and tried to reboot and again it wouldnt pass the splash screen. So in the end I wiped everything and reflashed and hey presto It came back. Thanks so much for all your help. I didnt need half the apps anyway haha

Thanks again
