Root GingerVillian 1.9 out last night!

rolling back to 1.8 for now, too many issues with Wi-Fi and the notification bar. Tis a shame, it's the first update i can remember having to roll back from :(

It was fine at first but then the WiFi would intermittently refuse to connect and was just taking an age to connect when it finally did. It would disconnect itself whilst the screen was off despite setting sleep to never, and just generally annoyed me.

well that could certainly be my issue then, i pulled 1.4 from VS. I'll try flashing again today and pull the kernel directly from the thread and see if it's any different. Cheers guys

Slight thread creep - I've never managed to use Villain Setup, when I try it refuses to install anything until I download a new recovery image (3. something), which I did once and regretted so won't do again.

Am I doing something dumb?

Can you boot into recovery using either the re-boot function when you press and hold the power button or by powering on holding the volume button? If so, just bypass using the install button within Villain set up completely and boot into recovery manually.

Like rom manager, villain setup downloads a fake flash version of recovery to install anything.

You can boot into recovery manually if you dont want to use villain setup to install anything, and install zip from /sdcard/defrostsetup/

been using 1.9 since last Friday, no issues but today during a phone call (i know, imagine a phone call) the phone kept vibrating, probably not a gingervilliam issue but frekkin annoying.

My only irritation is the sticking drop-down notification bar.
I hope this gets fixed this week.

I've only got one issue with it and that's when I press back from wherever I've been, sometimes it returns me to a blank homescreen, the only way to get everything back is to lock and then unlock and everything is back to normal, its done it a few times now.

Pleased to say that re-flashing 1.9 and grabbing the eviollet kernel from its source as opposed to villain setup has sorted the WiFi issue. Hopefully someone else will benefit from this too

Youre killing your launcher.

Settings>Applications>development>Stop app via long-press (untick)

It's is unticked, not had It before so not sure what's causing it. Perhaps a bug from 1.9 I'm sure it will be sorted in 2.0. I had an interesting one before though, my app drawer button didn't work, so I rebooted and It let me in but just a black screen, I'm wondering If it could be my CPU idle speed setting? I might turn it up and see what happens, as it only occurs after I unlock.

It might help me. I've been having wifi issues too.

Where do I get the eviollet kernel from and what do I do with it?

Had a bug this morning my notification widgets had disappeared. Tried turning off and back on in cyanogenmod settings but no luck.

Reboot sorted it
