Root GJ Hijacked My Phone

First let me say it was totally my fault. I ca't leave things alone. GJ has been running so fast and smooth I didn't evn try Liberty, but I was sitting around and thought I would try a different battery icon so I flashed Apex blue black circle. GJ went into bootloop. Several battery pulls later no better. Decided to boot into clockwork and restore my GJ. Well it would not install nor my Apex backup. Could be the the way I named them using () . That's not the weird part. I decided then that I would SBF back to 2.2.320. Well set up RSDLite and loaded the file on it. Hooked the X up and booted into the bootloader and started the process. Everything was moving well but when the SBF finished before I could get to the X for reboot it rebooted into GJ again. SBF didn't work. Finally just went into cwm and luckily I had the GJ2.5 zip on the SD Card so I reinstalled GJ new. Most all my backups took care of bringing things back. Now I'm worried how I'm going to get back to stock for the next OTA.

Any comments / suggestions guys
 
It just sounds like the SBF didn't work. NExt time you flash it go into settings>privacy>factory data reset. then flash the sbf file. I flashed the SBF over GJ 2.5 fine. I was using Ubuntu but that makes a difference in the end.
 
Thats strange alright. Well for starters you could rename your backups again without any spaces or ()"s.

As for SBFing I would try doing a factory reset first, then try the SBF again.
 
Yeah, sbf definitely failed, or it couldn't have rebooted into a custom rom. You don't have a backup made right after rooting 2.3.340?

Well now I see what a dumbass I was. I have this file. It's called Happy Holidays. I was trying to flash a 2.2.320 recovery file instead. As for the patch do I just need the 2.2.340 updater-system?

Then I would use the sbf file(s) and RSD Lite to reset your device to stock. It sounds like something is seriously screwed up on your phone if you can't install zip files, and restore backups from recovery. :(
 
That's the strange thing. I can install some zips. I installed a fresh copy of GJ 2.5 and later installed the DX Camera.
