Global Capabilities????

I was just in Spain and my Rezound was useless.
Will the Rezound ever get the global capabilities update that was talked about months ago....

Thank you to those of you that took the time to respond.
My Rezound is not rooted so I have a few questions.

1. Does it need to be rooted to apply this update?

2. If and when the update is actually pushed out by Verizon, how will it effect the phone if I have already updated it?

3. If I update, will it wipe all the data from my phone?

4. Since Verizon has not pushed the update and ususally you would call them to get the global plan added, they will not know that it has the global capability so they would not be able to add it. So, how will the phone connect in another country? Do you need to by a new sim card.

Thanks to whoever answers and sorry for all the questions.

1. (no root needed)
2. (nothing will effect the phone but, If the OTA is newer like .03, it may update to it.)
3. (update with the RUU Yes, update with OTA No) but it may be best to reset to phone after a OTA update to clear out the memory if you are having problems and that will wipe the phone.
4. (good question?)

Can I update with the 4.03.605.02 leak without messing with the. 01 OTA leak?

The. 01 OTA files are a lot bigger than the 02 files. Is there stuff in 01 that we don't get in 02?

Also, the instructions say to put the. Zip files on the SDcard. Do they mean the internal SDcard, the exSD, or does it matter?

DO NOT use the .1 OTA leak, it is quite buggy... The .2 leaked RUU is very stable, you need to put it on the external SD since in the process your phone will get wiped clean, including the internal storage (internal SD card/'HTC STORAGE' volume). In this process a complete factory reset will occur, putting the phone back to Out of Box condition, so make sure to back up!

Note that although this unlocks some of the GSM and global stuff, it is still not officially supported as a Global Phone by Verizon, you will need to get a local SIM and do some "tweaking" to get it to work.

Im running the .2 leak as of yesterday, my battery life seems to have really calmed down since. I was having some pretty major battery drain issues on official ICS so figured this couldnt hurt. Seems to run much better now.

Thanks to acejavelin, I am fully on board with. 2 now, so I'll keep an eye on the battery issue. I am using the factory extended battery and have been since day 1. Too early to tell yet.

The newest leak is really nice so far, my battery life has returned to normal, where Im looking at 4-5 days of normal use between charges it seems like. Ive lost like 15-20% all day today. much better than the 40-50 i was seeing gone after like 10 hours on older version.

Holy cow! 4-5 days even on extended battery?!?! that is amazing!

How much screen on time are you getting? On a extended about 4-5 hours is typical with excellent signal strength.

I dont spend alot of time on my phone so it can be a little skewed number wise. I tend to have my tablet with me so that gets more use pending how busy I am at work. But I can get 3-4 with ease with my normal use. If I really used it alot I could see that dropping to 2-3 days at most. Considering where I was before putting on this newest leak, i was seeing about 40% battery left after 8 or so hours of minimal use. So this is working far better than the official.

I have the screen on like 2 hours out of 12 as of right now. I know thats mainly the biggest reason I can stretch the battery. I rarely sit with the screen on longer than a few mins at a time.

OK, that makes sense... when you said 4-5 days I started thinking you found some magic or something. :D

for what i use the phone for, it was brutal before I installed this last leak. I should never lose like 60% in such a short time with as little as I was using it overall. This leak is running like the older leaks, awesome battery life again.
