Help Global?

Good question. One would think they would at least release it with the hardware for global capability, even if only as an option via a future OTA. Devices are trending more global. It wouldn't be a deal breaker for me but sure would be a "nice to have"!

Wouldn't it need the proper radio to be a global phone? How can it add hardware through an OTA?

I completely agree A. That's why in my post I stated you would think they would at least include the hardware at release, I could see them being able to activate it with an OTA after the fact. I don't know how you could do it otherwise. ?

Yes the Incredible 4g will have global hardware. The S4 Processor MSM8960 has CDMA, LTE GSM and HSPA+ radios all built into it. Just like the Rezound. Also the Razr and D4 also use a Qualcomm MDM6600, all in one radio. All these phone have the global capable hardware, it is just a matter of the software enabling the radio to be used.

To be global, doesn't it also need a sim card?

To all of those who have gotten the Inc4G, any word from the Verizon reps as to when the GSM radio will be enabled? Global roaming capability would seal the deal for me.

I have the Inc2, which is of course global, and for me that is a must. If the Inc 4G were global out of the box, I would get it today (well, actually I wouldn't until it had been proven to work overseas). However, I have come to realize VZW's promises sometimes don't come to pass at all, or at least on any kind of a timely basis (am I cynical or realistic?) So, I'm going to watch what happens with the Inc 4g, but I won't get it until it has it has been proven to be a global phone. Right now (and I may be wrong about this?) VZW doesn't have any 4G phone that is functioning as a global phone, although various phones are suppose to have the hardware for it. So it sounds to me like there is some sort of a problem with 4G and global. I hope VZW can work it out, but right now I'm not buying it on a future promise.
