Gmail and Contacts

Forgive me if this is already posted because I did try and do a search to find it, with that said;

Is there a way to still allow gmail to autosync mail, calender but not autosync contacts unless I tell it to?

Also in this same topic how can I turn off gmail from automatically adding someone as a contact any time I send an email to someone NOT in my contact list.
