Help Gmail and HTC mail

I use Gmail and not HTC mail. When at the home screen and I slide two screens to the right there is a HTC mail home page. Is there a way to delete this giving me another empty home page which I could use?

Press and hold the mail screen until you see a green rectangle. Drag it down to the Remove button on the bottom.

Press and hold the widget. Drag to the newly appeared trash can at the bottom of the screen.
