Help Gmail app freezes after OTA update?

Since the last OTA update, my gmail app has been freezing quite often. I will get the new email notification in my notification bar, but when I press on it to view them, it opens up gmail, but gets stuck with just the Gmail logo and gmail on the top and the rest is a white screen.

I've tried using task manager to clear data/clear cache, force close, etc. The only "fix" that works is rebooting the phone. Very annoying.

I did a quick search on google, and it seems people over at android central are having the same problem, but not with just gmail, but google play and the browser. I have not tested out the other apps, because I most frequently use Gmail.

The next time the issue arises, I will attempt to uninstall then reinstall the gmail app...
 
Hi everyone ....my LTevo is acting up a lot lately ...mostly it's my Gmail "not responding" and when I open my contacts to edit or search, the nothing happens and eventually the screen goes black. I am also disconnecting from the internet, even though I'm in a very strong service area. Google play has been force closing a lot too. My voice mails sometimes come days after they were left. I like this phone a lot, but my my MoPho seemed to be much more consistent in its performance. Is this a phone issue, or Sprint issue......any thoughts?

My LTEvo is having the same issues with Gmail not responding and crashing as well as contacts freezing up when searching. My Internet disconnects alot as well and I'm in a very strong area. Sprint tower is less than a mile from my house. My voice mails seem to be fine but there is definately something that is causing problems in the last week that I haven't been able to figure out with Gmail.

I had basically the same problems again today. What's crazy is that I can open my Gmail on my phone and Acer Iconia at the same time, and Gmail opens on the Iconia instantly, but the phone sometimes stays blank. I checked for updates and did the PRL/Profile update, but it didn't get any better.
 
I hope that's the what is going on. Its frustrating.....I tried to send someone's contact info by text message on Thursday and I couldn't even search my contacts.....when I started searching , the screen would just go black and nothing would happen for a minute or 2.

i'm having the same problem

also affects the play store and sometimes google maps app.

the playstore is weird - it loads up and seems to work fine, but when i click on one of my apps it freezes.

tried clearing cache, uninstalling/reinstalling no luck.

driving me nuts
 
I tried clearing the cache/data on google services framework. I'm not sure if that worked or not, but I was freeze-free for about a week. Then one morning i go to check my gmail, and then i get the blank white screen. Next time it glitches, i'm going to try google play and maps to see if those have been affected also.

I did have google play glitch on me once, where it loaded up fine, but when i'd click on an app, it never loaded.

Just hoping new updates in the future will cure the problem. It doesn't happen to me that frequently to even consider a factory reset or a new phone. I can live with it for now..
 
thanks for responding. it happens multiple times a day for me. really annoying - i would just do a factory reset but i was lazy about not putting an sdcard in and dont want to lose music...

dropboxing it now because ultimately reset is what i'm going to have to do.

lame.

i wonder if google wallet is to blame for all of this - it went south after i tinkered with that and while i got it to work once now everytime i boot my phone i just get the notification bar "initializing" message but it never does.

i WOULD uninstall to check, but i can't get to the app store.

I am having this Gmail sync problem too. I did a factory reset this past weekend and it fixed nothing. Actually Gmail seemed a bit perkier and the lock up does occur less often but it still happens.

so annoying... other than a dead pixel i never had any trouble with the gen 1 evo
 
I am having the same issues too. Plus, my contacts freeze up when I search for a contact. I hope this gets sorted out soon..... I am fast losing interest in LTevo..... my MoPho never did this.
