Help Gmail App not Alerting me to new E-mail?

I just got the Droid X after updating from the Droid and one of the (many it feels like) issues I'm having is that my GMail app isn't Notifying me of new E-Mails. In fact I have to open my google mail app and hit refresh for the e-mails to show up.

It worked perfectly on Droid but Droid X doesn't seem to be letting me do it right now.

I've got the Notifications set and the Background Data and Syncing is all set up so I can't figure this out, the very first e-mail I got it alerted me to, but since then NOTHING.

Is it because it has the 'Only Alert Once' button checked? I mean is that glitched and causing my system to not alert me because it thinks I already have e-mails in there?

As I said i'm having a few other issues with Droid X, I posted a post here:

and Issues with my Sister's FBook Syncing with Contacts

http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/241341-droid-having-issues-syncing-fbook-contacts.html

Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

My sister said it best, 'It's just so frustrating to have a cool awesome piece of equipment that won't do what it's potential is'

not sure why you posted this in the "all things root" forum but to fix your gmail issue, you should go to Settings, Accounts, Google & and make sure gmails checkbox is checked.

I posted in root access because this is the ROOT of all my problems! Ha Ha Ha... No but seriously I'm not sure why I did either. I got lost in the forums.

But yeah it's all checked, I can't figure this thing out. I woke up this morning and my phone didn't have any e-mails on it, open my app, still none. Hit Refresh and I've got six emails ranging from 7 Hours earlier to 30 minutes prior...

I actually then deleted those e-mails but when I go to mail.google.com they are still there... So yeah... This is going to bug me forever.

Check this for me....

Go to a home screen that has some room, touch and hold till the menu pops up.
Touch Widgets
Scroll to Power Control and touch it.
That's going to add a widget to the home screen with 5 icons.
From left to right they are Wifi, Blutooth, GPS, Sync, and Brightness.
Is Sync (circle arrows) highlighted?

It should be...touch it, make the bar below it turn green.

I had this exact issue and it eventually hammered itself out, I did change ROMs in the meantime, but I really think it's a server-side issue.

Hi there Thanks for that info. I was having the Same Issue with my HTC G2, and it worked. :)

Going to move this to the general Droid X forums... it might need to be put even further into general Android... but for now just going to move to Droid X Discussion. I will monitor this as well, I get random notifications with gmail as well... sometimes a whole day before it tells me I have 30 emails.
