Help Gmail app not properly sizing emails

So, I use the Gmail app for my emails because, well, in Google I trust. Problem is, when I get any email that contains pictures, from say Threadless or hotels, the pictures are oversized and the app won't allow me to resize the email to fit the width of the screen.

Is there a setting I'm missing? This seems like an awfully big oversight by Google if there is no way to correct this issue.

No way to zoom out. Yeah I know, it was painful for me when I first switched from Palm Pre to the Evo 4G... but *shrug* you get over it. At least the Evo 3D has a better resolution so you can fit more of that oversized image in.
