Gmail app won't sync?

On my phone. The gmail app says "sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." I try putting in my password and its not accepting it. I recently changed my password to when this started happening also.

I tried force stopping and clearing the data on the gmail app and restarting the phone. I don't know what else i should do. Its been like this for 2 days.

I tried deleting the account and putting it back on but it said i had to reset the whole phone for that and i don't want to do that.

I need my email.

how did you fix it? my gmail hasn't synced since sunday at 6pm.

Do tell how you fixed it so others with the same issue can benefit.

I use the alternate stock mail client for my mail. Good because I don't have to turn BGD on to get my mail.
