Help Gmail attachment only works if ....

This problem started a few days ago

I can go into Gmail and send an attached file.

But if I go the attached file first (in the Gallery) and click on the Mail link it will say it is
'Sending' but it does not work i.e
- the Sent Items list does not include it
- the mail does not arrive

(This fails also in Safe mode)

have you tried the "share" option instead of "send"?

Share works for me for sending images from gallery via e-mail

I can't remember ever seeing a direct link/option to email from gallery or other file repositories. I've always had to use the share option. But then I have been on ICS 4.0.4 and only on Jellybean 4.1.2 since end September 2013.

Hi Harvey

I see if I "shared" a picture, the Mail (M) icon stays in the album from where I shared. Once closed, it is gone. Sending another picture using the "mail" option while visible does work, though.

I see something fairly similar to your first link when I click on a file in the gallery, except that the star symbol is replaced by a slideshow symbol in a different position
