Help Gmail Icon not showing new mail

I know ive seen people here showing their home screens and their gmail icon usually shows new messages. Mine does not. Any suggestions?

and you left out which launcher you're using. Should be in the settings to show them.

Im using blur. Couldnt figure it out w launcher pro either.

Wouldn't the "GMail" icon notification show only when using the "GMail" email client for your GMail account? If using the Unified Inbox, I do not believe the "GMail" icon will be displayed for new "GMail" messages.

Im using gmail and I have the gmail icon. I just cant figure out how to get it to animate to show how many unread messages I have. I rooted my atrix but I dont think that should matter.

In Launcher Pro it is under Preferences > Dock Settings.. not sure about Blur though.

I'm not sure how using GMail email client is "using Blur", but the OP may want to search the Market for a 3rd party "GMail Notifier" widget.
