Help Gmail issue on my desire.....

Ok so when I setup my desire around 1yr ago a googlemail.com account was created and today I've just decided to switch from hotmail, when I logged in I was prompted to convert the account to gmail.com which I did.

The issue I have is that my desire is set to sync with the googlemail.com account and although that is fine with regards to the email (gmail.com messages get forwarded to googlemail.com) the calendar is syncing with googlemail.com and strangely it's now blank on my phone even though the online copy has entries for events I added on my phone.

Should I remove the googlemail.com account then add the gmail.com account ?

Removing the account removes contacts etc. and other data, that's the bit I'm worried about what is 'other data' ?

I have backed up using titanium backup but just want to know the best way to resolve this as I want my calendar to sync.

Thanks.

Yeah I would remove the @googlemail account and add the @gmail account as its a new e-mail address (because its different lol) - But although the address has changed abit its still the same account so you shouldn't loose contacts etc... But just in case back them up again or back them up on the SD card, but to answer your question... Yes set up the @gmail.com account :)

Think you need to factory reset to change it because you can't remove the primary account.

There are a few other threads about the Googlemail issue which may help you. I'm on the mobile app so searching it out for you is a struggle, sorry. If I were to search, I would use the term "googlemail"

Yes you can factory reset when rooted. It will wipe data, but you can titanium backup first.

Sign in with your new gmail address. Then do a restore but leave out accounts and sync settings, user accounts, gmail.

Should be sufficient...

Done that but it's restored the sodding googlemail account.

Going to have to try again, titanium restore is painful as you have to install each non system app.

All I want ot restore is my apps, homescreens, regular email for hotmail and sms messages.

Hmmm. Not sure which else it could be.

Perhaps google calendar sync, google contacts sync and all those that start google? and Market?

You could wipe them one by one to see...

What titanium restore option are you using? I'd be using "restore missing apps with data" NOT "restore apps + System data"

That's the restore option I chose.

I've now restored the missing apps with data and have managed to restore my SMS messages.

Just need to try and workout restoring the other stuff ie. homescreens and email (not gmail)

Starting to think I should've stuck to hotmail now !

Got my restore sorted out and the phone was working but it did freeze once so I had to remove the battery then this morning (after I'd dropped it !) after it froze again I pulled the battery again and then all my non standard apps were missing and I was unable to access my SD card :(

I'll have to put the stock SD card back in a make sure that is readable before trying to get my 16GB one working again, grief.

Also it appears all the titanium backup data was on the SD card as there is nothing available to restore.
