Help Gmail labels

yes

meaning that on your phone if you go to "labels" and select a label it will have the emails in it that you have put that label on.

Is that what your asking?

If you choose to sync a label, it syncs a certain number of days of mail in that label, or all mail in that label - your choice. The number of days of sync is the same for all labels that are synced - it's either "x" number of days (you can change the "X"; the default is 4 days, I believe), all mail, or not synced at all.

Yes, I suppose that is the question. Reason for question is that VZW support told me that having too many emails on phone might explain needing to do a soft "reset". After doing a master reset, I selected the Option to NOT Sync my Labels. I thought the emails would be on Gmail server and not reside on the cell phone.

i don't think that is justification for a soft reset.

What problems were you having when you went into the store?

I have no idea what a "soft reset" or a "master reset" are.

I know what a "reset" and a "factory reset" are.

I assumed that "reset" and "soft reset" were the same benign activities.

From your response I was apparently wrong.

If I'm confused ... mayber others are also ...

Boy, I seriously doubt it. I am syncing 4 days of messages in my in box and priority inbox, sent mail, and all mail in my starred label, plus four days in a second account, and Gmail is using 440 kilobytesof data and about 3.5 MB of cache (settings->applications->manage applications, downloaded, tap on Gmail). (I had the same settings on an Eris with FAR LESS storage than a Bionic and never had a soft reset problem because of the Gmail app.)

This may be true if you use the built-in messaging app for email rather than the GMail app, but I think that the GMail app is pretty efficient and stable.

Excuse my poor wording. I had done multiple "resets" and finally did a "factory reset". All of you have been most helpful. I will eventually do the 4 day sync and see if that works regarding Gmail. Unfortunately, I did not think about doing a slow install of my apps and have done them all. If there are future issues, I will definitley follow your advice and install a few at a time. Thanks.
