Gmail not syncing emails

Just recently my phone has stopped syncing emails with my phone and consequentially stopped notifying me when I get a new email.
It's kind of annoying, I was getting used to being able to know when I have a new email )= Anyone know what could have gone wrong...

Go into Settings-> Accounts and sync. This will show you both the sync setting, as will as the last time it did so. It may not be an answer, but it may help you get there

Sync was set to on, of course. But a little while ago I turned sync off, and then on again (via power control widget) and now it seems to have reset itself and is working again.
