Gmail notification

I love my Photon, but I can't seem to get my Gmail to notify me of new e-mails. It will only bring them up if I go into the app and hit the refresh. I have set up the notifications ringtones in the menu, but it isn't working. Can someone give me any suggestions?

I recently had the same issue. I tried everything, including uninstalling updates to the Gmail app.

I had to resort to a factory reset to get it to work. Wish I had a less drastic remedy for this.

Just to verify that your settings are as they should be, compare them to someone else's phone. I did this in hopes that I was just overlooking something, but, in the end, I had to perform a factory reset.

Thanks for the heads up. I am still hoping to not do a factory reset and lose all the apps and setting I have done. Fingers crossed!!

Well, the apps part of it is easy. Just back those up with Astro or AppBrain or both.

The settings, well, I don't think there's been a complete "full proof" way of saving those, unless there's the option for a back-up in the particular app.

That's part of the reason I love using Launcher Pro Plus. I have the entire set-up backed up. I have to re-do some of the widgets, but most of the widgets I use, also have a backup setting to save the widgets I've created (w/ exception to a couple apps).

APP DRAGON & SCREEN GRABBER are two more tools you can use for back-up insurance.

On the samsung galaxy (also android) there is an option to update in teh background. gamil, menu, accounts, menu, settings, then you can choose to allow app to work in the background - mine allows the choise of mail. I have just turned mine off because I kept getting notifications whenever there was a new email and I only wannt to be notified of texts (they tend to need a response, emails cna wait until I'm in the office.)
weirdly you cant separate text notifications from email, unless there is a separate text app that will notifiy you so you can turn off the main system one?
