Help GMail Push

Lurker
Hi, I have a number of email accounts setup on my Galaxy S2.

GMail
BT Internet
Hotmail
Sky

My BT Internet, Hotmail and Sky account all push emails to my phone, so they come through when they arrive in my inbox.

My GMail is different. I have to keep going into my GMail application and hitting refresh for the emails to appear.

Is there any way for the GMail app to push emails to me automatically so when an email is sent, I will get a notification?

Thanks,

Go to Settings> Accounts & Sync> Check if Auto-Sync is enabled and click on your google account.
Check "Sync Gmail"
It should work, I do not have the galaxy s2 but these are the steps for my Motorola Triumph.
Getting the s2 though, do you like the phone?

The S2 is the best phone I've ever used. I've gone from nokia (n95, n97 and an e63), and there is nothing that come close to the s2. Not just braider of all the mad specs the s2 has, but because of ease of use and although the phone didn't do all I wanted out of the box, a quick tour of the app market will have your phone doing anything you can imagine. Well, just about anyway.

I'm only two weeks into my s2 myself, but I've been having a heckuva time with this as well.

What aadilh14 suggested is definitely correct, but I've found that when I'm looking for help on this matter the following generally doesn't get mentioned, but I think it's important. If you run down your battery enough to go into Power Saving Mode (PSM) and you have "Turn off Sync" checked in the the PSM options then Auto Sync will turn off, and doesn't turn back on again even when you recharge the phone.

As I say, I'm a noobie myself, so please correct me on the bolded part if I'm wrong, but it's something that I've noticed.

So... you can either go to Settings> Accounts & Sync> Check Auto-Sync each time your phone goes into PSM

or you can do Settings>Power Saving Mode> Uncheck "turn off Sync" and you'll always have sync running.

I'd love to offer an opinion on which one is better, but I'd say they both have their benefits. Turning off Sync in PSM is obviously going to help with battery life, but also disengages push email (and any other accounts you have synced FB, Twitter).

Best case scenario would be if when PSM is not on, if the Auto Sync could start back up again.

Anyone else have advice?

(sorry for the long post)
