Email quit sending?

Doing general maintenance on my sd card. Lost my card reader, so the phone is connected to my laptop. Laptop crashes. Forced a hard shutdown, waited for power off. Disconnected phone. Reboot. Laptop fine. Phone however? ...

Gmail quit sending from my phone. So I tried multiple backups of different roms. Finally to the original freshly rooted ZVB! Can now send a picture, sometimes.

The sending email appears in both my inbox and my outbox at the same time. And gmail has added the subject line (minus spaces, plus @gmail.com) to my address book. Bizarre!

Tried setting up gmail in the secondary email app. Same problem. Send and receive from the laptop works fine.

I guess my question is;

Is there base level programming, like bios/cmos, that isn't backed up and restored during that process in CWM?

And will the downgrade/upgrade process correct this?

Or am I missing something completely? Lol! Most common problem of all!

Call the customer service and have them reset your data, sounds like there might be something going on in your area or gmail might be having issues, i doubt it's the phone.

I spoke to "tech support". Twice. Was told to contact google..... Lol! More importantly, a data reset done by them is the same as using the upgrade tool from LG.

Figure I'm headed there anyway. So I'm going to wait till I can be without my phone for a couple of hours. And to make sure I already have all my root files ready.

Thought, can I manually remove the gmail APK, then reinstall from the market? Would it gain anything? Or am I playing with fire?

Any other ideas? Will probably wait for the weekend to do the data reset. Unless I finish breaking it before then!

U think maybe in the app market there might be a gmail alternative app? something that actually always sends. ive too have encounter this prob sometimes and it seems to me my 4g sometimes gets congested with so many things using it in the background but i have managed to discover if i close those apps and reopen gmail it sends. sometimes also my 4g dosnt get good signal in my home... so using wifi helps alot. also when all that dosnt help and lets say im emailing some1 a pic ill just txt message their email the pic so instead of a number i place their email at top and that always works for me.

WooHoo! Got it working! Used titanium to uninstall gmail. Then reinstalled from the market....

I'm guessing I got a corrupted file when windows crashed. Not sure, don't care... Loll

Well, guess I spoke too soon. Gmail failed this morning. It would only force close after a battery swap.

So I used root explorer to move the apk from data/app to system/app. Then installed it. Reboot.

Seems to be working again. We'll see.
 
ive had this SAME problem before! i just used the "email" app that came with my phone as an alternative, and it seemed to work just fine. strange though. ive since reinstalled new roms and it hasnt done that to me again. yet...
 
I had this same problem last week. I installed an older version of gmail I had stored in my dropbox since march. I turned off automatic updates and haven't had a problem ,yet.
 
A couple of days now. It seems to be working fine. Been distracted, fell into an HTC flyer! :cool: lol!
