Help gmail sync

has anyone had problems with gmail since recent updates? i can send emails but i get no notification of new emails coming. i've setup syncing with gmail and also allowed notifications in gmail settings. to read new email i have to refresh the inbox. kinda defeats the point of push messages

Are you logged in elsewhere? I have similar issues with syncing when I've left the laptop (and gmail) open at home.

ah that's a good point. sometimes i am logged in at work - get the message at work but not on my phone. Perhaps that's it. cheers

Does anyone have any other suggestions for this problem? I suddenly started getting this problem a few weeks ago, but am using everything in exactly the same way as I have since I got this phone a few months ago. I've been through and made sure that the correct boxes are still ticked and can only assume that it's due to an update. Only problem is working out which one caused it as I think this had been going on a couple of days before I noticed it!
Any help will be appreciated
