Root Gmail update unsuccessful

I am running Virtuos 2.7 with adrynalyne kernal

I am being told that an update for gmail is available, but when I download it and try to install it, the install fails.

anyone know why /what I can do?

I know the new version of virtous has an updated gmail but would rather not backup, install, etc

I have this problem with 3.0.1. It showed two Gmails also.

I used Titanium Backup's "Chuck Norris" mode uninstall to take the old one out. Restarted phone. Then went back to the market and downloaded and installed it fine. Try that.
