Gmail widget

[Harper77]

How can I get the Gmail widget on my smartphone to have a star or something on it showing I have new mail?
Currently the only notification I get on my Smartphone is a small envelope in the top left corner of screen. Am using the Samsung Galaxy s2 x

There currently is no widget for the gmail app. Maybe one on market, idk. But ice cream sandwhich will bring an official gmail widget.

Pure messenger widget works with the stock gmail app and is themeable.
