how come i have to constantly be going to settings>sync> and selecting automaticaly sync? after pressing it once shouldnt it save and stay that way?

If I go Menu>Settings>Accounts and Sync the check box for auto-sync stays enabled on mine. Are you running a custom rom or anything like that? My phone is rooted but I am on the stock rom. I suppose you could try rebooting your phone which you probably already did. Also, try uninstalling apps one by one and checking the sync setting each time to see if you have a conflict. Worse case scenario would be a factory reset of your phone.
If all that fails I would take it to sprint if you are still having problems.
