Help Gmail won't sync

Just got an Ascend for my GF, and tried to sign in to her gmail account, and it just says, "Will link in soon" (Or something like that). It's been like this for three days and still nothing. I tried turning it on and off, and that doesn't work either. Have to do a hard reset? Any ideas?

is you using stock rom? how long has it been doing this? did you root and delete something? A little more details is needed....
