Help Go Daddy Email

Hey,

Just got my optimus V today and am trying to get my many email accounts set up. I have successfully set up my gmail account, but am having trouble accessing my godaddy email for my work emails. The Incoming setting will take, but when I go to the outgoing server settings I get an error message 'Unable to open connection to server' I've read that virgin blocks outgoing to reduce spam or something like that, how can I just get my emails to work?

I haven't gotten around to trying to set up my Go Daddy email directly yet-but I already had it ( my Godaddy domain webail)set to forward to Yahoo Mail- and Yahoo mail set to allow me to use the Go Daddy account with my own domain name as the sender.

Not perfect for all considerations- email sent this way doesn't appear in the sent files in Go Daddy's webmail account.

But-- it works- I can read, reply, and send mail from Yahoo and my Go Daddy account in one interface. And, I'm finding Yahoo's Android mail app to be pretty good. First of all, they have the formatting down so I can read it the way it's sent without any fiddling.

I would recommend skipping VM support and check with Go Daddy- assuming it's doable and not something blocked out by VM. I have always found GD to have good customer service/tech support. Only had 1 call in the 8 or so years with them that thye didn't resolve the issue on the first call.




I have Skype installed- so now I can use the V to answer and make calls on my skype number anywhere I have cell service, and anywhere with WiFi if no VM coverage available.

Next step- get my Palm Centro address book into Skype and Google.

Then I have to figure out Google Docs, Springpad, and drop-box.
And get 20 GB worth of CDs conveted to MP3 and uploaded to Amazon's cloud player.

Going on wk 3 with the V, and happy I made the decision to go for it.

Oftentimes it's just a matter of correcting outgoing port settings. Give this a try and if you are still stuck, give support a call and they'll do their best to get you up and running!
