Go Launcher EX

So i saw this new updated version available. Did as said, backed up configuration, installed new one, uninstalled old one, restored config. All it kept was the dock, the icons and their actions. I lost my wallpaper and all widgets.

All the EX seems to bring is the use of themes (which are all pretty bad). With Go EX you also need to install an additional app for the notifications on the dock of emails/sms/calls. (Which apparently doesn't work if you're using Go SMS).

With the older Go Launcher, it did this without an additional app. So all-in-all, not the best app/update i've ever done. Have spent ages setting up and configuring everything back to how it was before i started farting around with it. :(

Sorry to hear your update didn't go so smoothly, I did exactly as you did but the change over only lost one widget I'd set and that was for a tools folder, re-instated that from my app drawer and everything worked ok.... just like you I was a little disappointed by the notification app I had to add as an extra, this makes GO's claim of being a smaller app not 100% correct.
Like you I can't say the themes are or any use to anyone who is seeking customisation of their phone, so not much of an update as far as I'm concerned.... still a good app but needs to work on it's idea of an 'update'

i was offered it but said no a i was out of Wifi, i now cant even find go launcher on the market? or in my installed apps, but im actually using it soo yeah,

but cheers for the heads up i wont update :)

thanks

i had to do a restore ...is there any way of getting the old version?

Go Launcher EX Notification app is a joke. Because of this i think i'll be removing EX and going back to the original Go app for a while. Then possibly back to LP.

The one thing GO Launcher EX has over ADW and LP, even though you have to download the add on, is unread count notifications for Gmail for ALL your accounts. This one feature alone puts GLE over LP and ADW, and I have the paid versions of both LP and ADW. Now if the developer of LP will integrate that into his app, I'll start using it again.

You've got the notification working? I never get the missed calls/texts number to come up on the dock at all. Does the notification work on the dock, or it only on widgets/icons?

The notifications for missed calls and available texts work fine using Ex on my Desire 2.2, have tried LP and others and will be sticking with GLE for now....

The notificatios appeared in the dock....

The one thing I don't like about EX is that they dropped the never-ending scroll feature for the screens (Go from screen 1 to screen 4)... Not sure why they dropped this.

Go I could get the available text number to appear in the dock, but when the messages were read it wouldn't get rid or the '1'

If you find the 1 still showing in the notification dock, look through your list of messages and you might find a sim message from a past force close or battery pull shutdown....
