GO Launcher Ex

Newbie
I just installed GO Launcher Ex yesterday and now my battery is draining roughly about 10% an hour while doing nothing. That can't be normal can it?

I haven't heard any problems with battery life and so many people use this launcher with no problems. Does it just take a few days to get settled?Or do I have to give up and uninstall?

Thanks in advance for any help.

It can't be Go Launcher EX. It could be your setup itself. Push email, notifications, low signals etc can be contributory to the huge battery drain. I have Go Launcher EX and on an idle phone I can expect approx 5% drain per hour when left connected to WiFi, and 7% when connected to mobile network. Its in my setup since I have Twitter, Facebook, Sugarsync, Email, Google, Calendar, Foursquare, Google+, Last.fm, Producteev and Market all syncing in the background.

However in general, approx 14hrs standby time for an idle smartphone with its capabilities being used thoroughly is normal. Moderate to heavy usage time is approx 6-11hrs depending on type of usage. This however is real life setting for MY SETUP. I've used and setup several smartphones already and this is always the result unless you use an extended battery or have a device with an exceptional battery capacity (like Razr Maxx or Galaxy Note).

You're not stalking me are you? ;) (JK!)

For the past week I had my phone set up fairly ok I thought in terms of battery. What I did was:
1. Turn off wifi and GPS
2. Have weather update every hour
3. Disable push email (have it check every 15 minutes)
4. Dim the screen brightness
5. Don't use any social apps like FB or Twitter
5. Screen timeout at 30 seconds.
6. Turned on the phone's power saver.

With this I was getting a drain of about 2~3% an hour on idle. And now the only difference was downloading Go Launcher and Go Notification so that's what I thought it might be. Hope not because I really like Go Launcher :(

What? Stalking? Honestly I barely look at people's names anymore. LOL.

AFAIK I haven't noticed any change in battery drain on mine due to Go Launcher.

You can download PowerTutor from the market to see what's draining your power. On my phone, it says GO Launcher eats up only an average power of 2mW, just the same as a single Widget of Beautiful Weather. Do you have lots of widgets or homescreens?

Just 3 widgets (a clock, the phone's task manager widget, and flashlight widget) and two homescreens. As I said, was getting pretty decent battery life before Go Launcher but not sure why that would affect battery life so much. I did notice that Cell Standby uses quite a bit of battery(19%); does that mean it's searching for signal or something?

Thanks for your patience and help in answering these newbie questions!

I just installed Go Launcher EX three days ago and can report that - at least on my phone - the battery is rapidly drained by this launcher.

In the past I have rarely had my battery run low, usually ending the day at 33% charge or more. In the past 3 days my phone has switched to power saver mode (<15% battery remaining) 3 times. Since the ONLY change I have made is a switch from ADW Launcher EX to Go Launcher EX there is no question it is due to the launcher and associated helper applications. My screen configuration including clock and widgets are also identical to my old configuration.

Go Launcher EX is terrific and I'm sorry to have to get rid of it, but the nice features and graphics aren't worth the severe battery drain.

Have used Go Launcher for quite some time on my Galaxy S and don't have any issues with battery drain. Just same as prior to using.

Try using PowerTutor to see what's draining the battery. Go Launcher just uses up 3% of my total power usage with all animation enabled.

All of you that are complaining about battery life need to download and use a better battery app like (wait for it).... BetterBatteryStats. There are just too many variables at play to simply guess at the problem.

GO Launcher has very little effect on battery life for me. You sure it's not something else draining your battery?
