go launcher v. launcher pro plus

which do you prefer/why?

i started using launcher pro plus just because i saw more people talking about it/using it/etc. i downloaded go launcher a few times, but always just immediately went back to launcher pro plus. i never fiddled with go to see if i'd like it more though. the one thing i did notice i immediately liked more was how you could flip the screens with a box in/out movement instead of a normal slide (not that it really matters). but what i like about launcher pro plus (and never bothered to see if i could do on go) was make an invisible dock, invisible icons, etc. so all that my screen essentially had was a clock and my widgetsoid. i have icons for messages, calls, etc. but it was all invisible. can you do that on go?

tell me what you like/don't like about each in your experience.

I bought launcher pro thinking it seemed more polished, but mainly for the widgets, as Go's didnt look as professional. Then I discovered Android Pro Widgets which had the widgets for free.

I then gave Go a chance and haven't gone back to LP since. Go is quicker, which is the main reason not to use Sense which is a very polished but sluggish.

Used LP+ for around and paid for it. Have been using GO now for around 3 months.

It's better. Why? It has not been abandoned and is in constant development.

Everything lpp has in the paid version is free with go + more. Also go is regularly updated .

regular is a lil understated Dan...I find myself checking the GO site like every 2 days JUST for the betas for the update for the launcher :D

It is a real shame for LP+ really, it started out really well. ADW wasn't bad at the time just (for me at least) didn't seem so smooth and polished and GO at the time was lacking...but since LP has basically been abandoned (supposedly a new rewrite is coming, but that seems to have taken longer than android itself does to get upgraded now) GO is definately my launcher of choice...

occasionally launcher 7.....hush Dan! ;):D

i downloaded go. i dig it. it's essentially the same thing as launcher pro for me (at least, as far as i ever used launcher pro or plan to use this). i like how the app drawer is somewhat transparent, as well. my only dislike so far is that you can clearly see the line for the dock (when i used launcher pro, every icon i had (text, phone, etc) was invisible, so my home screen just looked empty except for the clock, no dock bar).

is there a way to get the little notification for the phone calls and messages to appear with the icon? i looked around a bit for an option to change that, but i can't find it.

also, is there a way to get hidden icons in the app drawer? on launcher pro, you could hide unused icons.

That line is just a dock background like I'm lp. Look in every menu to explore all its potential.

Notifications are an extra download go notification

And yes you can hide icons in app drawer. Press menu in the app drawer.

Seriously, look around all the menus

I will just add to what Dan said there with 'Go Notifications'...its a little hit and miss at the moment. Calls and Texts seem to work 100% fine, Gmail DOESN'T work due Google changing some API security settings a while back. The Facebook notification also is VERY hit and miss right now and hasn't been updated sadly.

It is really a shame that while GO launcher, GO Locker and even GO Widgets are regularly updated that GO Notifications isn't so well locked after by the team.

I've got missed it on wl too. I use the sense 3 lock so that tells me if the led means gmail or sms

For those that are using Go Launcher (or LP!), what text and dialer programmes are you using?? I really like the speed of vanilla roms (with one of the launchers) but miss the sense contacts, text messaging and dialer programmes.

I use go sms, and go contacts (it has go dialer built in). I feel the same way as you, and these do the trick for me.

I can't use the stock dialer. If i couldn't T9 the persons name in the dialer to look them up real quick I would go nuts.
