Root Going back to Original Android 2.2

Hi Guys, Yes I'm a noob.
I recently rooted my Desire using Unrevoked and then proceeded to install 2.3. and I really don't like any of the ROMs I've tried. Is it possible to Reinstall the original 2.2 and also the original ROM (HTC sense) or at lease one very close to it? I bought it in Dubai a few weeks ago.
I liked the original setup but I just wanted to get rid of the preloaded Apps and then made the mistake of installing 2.3.

SUroot, dare I say...I LOVE YOU...man. I thought I had really cocked things up. Lesson learned. Thank you for your GREAT advise and assistance. And I can now also utilise HTCsync.
