Root Going from OTA 596 Signed(standard) to Deodexed 596

chmodx

Android Enthusiast
Here's where I'm at:
Currently 596 signed OTA, non-rooted.

Where I want to go:
596 Deodexed

Can I:
SBF back to 2.2
Install 588
Install 595 deodexed
and THEN install 596 deodexed over it?

you can go back to 2.2 and get the two part deodexed version and you will go directly to .596 with the .12 baseband
All ya gotta do is root FroYo and D2 bootstrap and you're there

So no need to install 588 at all, just Froyo and straight to deodexed 596?

Do I need to wipe data/cache again after I install Froyo(right before I install 596 deodexed)?

Thanks!

Yeah. No need for .588. If you SBF back to stock Froyo just use method two and flash the two files for .596. No need to wipe the cache until after you flash .596. As a precaution, after you flash the .596 you can wipe data factory reset just to make sure everything is good to go. Then you can start to put all your stuff back in.

The 2 files for 596, are those going to be deodexed/rooted?

I'm downloading 596-Deodexed.zip right now, I didn't realize I needed these 2 other zip files until you guys mentioned them.

yes, rooted and possibly fully deodexed, some are having trouble with mods, so there is a patch for deodexing, real easy fix

Which patch for deodexing are you referring to? I've seen it mentioned a couple times now but can't locate it.

Thanks.

Just completed SBF'ing to Froyo, then straight to .596 with the 2 part method. Piece of cake.

After completing the SBF of Froyo, I had to enter stock recovery and format data/cache to stop the endless M symbol. To enter stock recovery press Down volume, Home button, power button till the triangle shows up, then push Up/Down volume buttons at the same time.
