goldcard question

Just one quick question about goldcards.

I bought my HTC Desire, in France, from Orange. There were a ton of useless Orange stuff on it so I decided to debrand my Desire using this guide.

To do it I had to turn my SD card into a gold card. Now the question is, I've noticed that a lot of modifications (rooting, flashing) can require a goldcard, so does it mean that the card I used for de-branding is still a gold card and will remain so forever?

Cheers!

You don't need the goldcard for anything other than flashing an RUU as you did in the debranding guide you followed.

However, if things go wrong with rooting / flashing, an RUU is sometimes the only option for recovery so it is very important that you have a goldcard.

From what we can tell (with a bit of testing done my anoniemouse forum member) it appears once a goldcard, always a gold card.

Thank you sir.

I've decided that I needed to root my phone since the 'NO SPACE LEFT ON INTERNAL MEMORY' message is getting quite annoying. Do I just need to root my phone to do this (with A2SD+?) or do I also need to 'flash' my desire with a custom rom?
Sorry for the nooby-ass question. I'm currently reading the FAQs about rooting but lots of areas remain dark to me :)

Custom ROM.

I wrote an Apps2sd+ FAQ as well as a rooting one. Linked in my sig :)

Yep, sorry I noticed it only after I replied and didn't have time to edit :P
I'm reading the FAQ right now and I must say it seems a bit tedious to root, choose a ROM among the dozens of existing one, risking a brick, etc. Well. I guess I'll just look around a bit more to make up my mind :)

Rooting or flashing a rom is so unlikely to brick your phone. I don't know of anyone who has actually managed this.

You'd have to be really blas
