This article makes a good case that the problem holding up the Droid Charge relates, first and foremost and probably solely, to Verizon wanting/needing to shore up and test the LTE Network .....

You almost have to expect that anymore with verizon. It's sad because I walked in a tmo store the other day and played with the G2x and man is that a nice phone and they have really good coverage in my area so when my contract is up in sept I may start looking elsewhere if verizon doesnt get their shit together.

The problem is that we're all early adopters. I'd much rather have a more innovative but buggier phone than a tried-and-true phone, and Verizon sticks to the latter model, which is why I think that, sadly, they will never get a Nexus phone.
