Help Good home replacement, etc?

Hello everyone,

I'm fairly new to the forums, been mainly lurking around for past few months and have found some useful information in this sub forum. So thanks for that!

Now I'd like to ask, what is a good home replacement app for the esteem? I'm looking for a nice customizable home that runs smooth. I was using Go Launcher EX on the esteem that I just had to replace. But seemed to be kind of inconsistent, that may have been caused by my phone itself malfunctioning. Figure i'll try something new with this one.

Also so far I've got Esteem Optimizer, CPU Master Free, and Titatnium Backup (free). Any suggestions on any other apps/mods for added performance/stability? Or even suggestions on using the optimizer.

I realize that was a wall of text, so we will see how many people actually read and reply :D

Launchers:

-Clean, fastest, light launcher (home replacement) = ZEAM LAUNCHER

-Clean and smooth = QQLAUNCHER (also includes an option to change the lock screen)

-Smooth launcher and a lot of customization = ADW EX

Other launcher you can try = DX HOME, Launcher pro, ICS Launcher, SPB Shell - Very creative but it's a heavy launcher and cost $$, launcher 7, MXHome launcher, HeLauncher, HeLauncher2, Open Home, Crazy Home, Wave launcher, My Launcher, Trasparent Launcher, 91 Panda Home 2..

The top three in bold are probably the most effiecent and effective. I'm sure there are more launchers out there as well.

For the lock screens. There are a few apps out there. Magiclocker is probably the most popular. WidgetLocker Lockscreen is popular but not free.

There is a thread on 'favorite apps' :)

What about go launcher ex?
 
Hi K1! I have been useing go launcher also as it has a lot of options and is free(deleted the lg home with no issues btw). My primary apps on my esteem are titanium pro- for backup. Gemini app manager-to manipulate autorun permissions for every app. Root explorer-to delete bloatware and unused files. At this point the phone will always run with no less then 170 mb of ram free which makes for a very snappy experience. My previous phone was a Huawei accend so i am still drooling at the possibilities with this phone!:eek:

If you would like a list of how i have manipulated this bad boy just let me know..would love to share the love!

I wil actually I have tried many things but will something like that as well cant wait for the update or custom roms thanks for your help

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, trying out some different homes now. And I would actually like to know what you did exactly. I've tried a couple different home apps and thinking of going back to go launcher because of all the different convenient plugins/themes/settings.
 
Lookup tag launcher. Good launcher gives a great memory of the original droids app launcher. Also look up on Google tw launcher 4.5 gives you a fast touch wiz launcher.
 
I prefer the new adw ex launcher. It is easily customized. Also has the ICS folders. If you want to make it more ICS like there is a ICS adw theme you can download.

Adw also has a free version. I am not sure if it has the same features since I have had ex for a few months now bhr give it a try

i like go launcher ex. i've had this phone since it came out, and I've experimented with them all. go launcher is free, has lots of customizable themes, lockers etc. i'll put it this way: of all the home launchers, its been on my system the longest.

Deleting the stock launcher won't cause problems until you factory reset
 
Lol. It just happened to me recently. So i simply installed another launcher and it been working fine
 
With over 70 installed apps only the following start upon boot:*all autorun off via Gemini*
Bible(disabled all autorun but app would just FC)
Titanium
Go Sms Pro(going to config to only start when used-see if it works properly)
Beautiful Wigets
Go Launcher Ex Notification (going to also config and see if it works properly)
Mini Info
LG Esteem Optimizer
2x Battery
Superuser = 138.14mb free(I think i said typically running at 170mb free -my bad).
After hitting the one key optimization about 209.73 becomes free and reduces as apps are opened. I primarily use the LG Application Manager to close running apps if the phone becomes laggy(usually only when 10+high ram apps are running-maps,Pandora ,ect.)

I have uninstalled 39 preloaded apps from the phone including all the Metro apps with no negative effects on stability(this includes the stock launcher & metroweb). Yes they all are backed up via Titanium just in case.

M!y primary "mission" with all this manipulation is to make my stock battery last as long as possible. I work 7 days and stream Tune In or Pandora at work nightly which kills my battery. The longest time I have had on the battery is roughly 6 & 1/2 hrs. Yes researching extended battery + 32 gb sd(thats what the $100 rebate will be used for :D)

I am fortunate that I have not had ANY rebooting issues. As we say in automotive.this must have been manufactured on a day other than Monday or Friday !

Yes you can change all the icon on the dock bar except for the app drawer. Open your app drawer, long press an icon and drag it yo the dock in the spot you want. It only works if you are in the app drawer and move the icon from the app drawer.
 
Is there a good app thats not bundled up in a home replacement for making folders? I tried one but it didn't work how I wanted it to.
