Goodbye, Droid. Hello, Droid X.

Got a Droid X for Christmas so I'll be making the switch. I'm cherishing my last hours with my O.G. Droid as we speak...the memories we had together...
;)
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to you all for teaching me so much about the Android world, rooting, ROMing, theming, etc. These forums have been an awesome resource for someone like me, who knew nothing about the Android O.S. before I joined.

See you over in the Droid X section!

Congratulations! I got my Droid X about a month ago and really do love it. I still keep my Original Droid up and running and have occasionally switched back to it for a day here and there. As long as the Devs keep putting out new ROMs for this phone I will keep it running.

Everyone on this board has been incredibly friendly and helpful! I can not thank everyone here enough.

Thanks for the tip! I may consider getting one. Is your extended battery the 1800mAh one? My stock battery is 1500mAh - does the extra 300mAh really make that much of a difference?

FYI - droid x + extended battery = 50 plus hours on a single charge with moderate use ;)
I don't know if your Droid was rooted, but mine running SetCPU gets 36 hours with the regular batteries (moderate use). I'd love to know what the Droid or X gets running SetCPU with an extended battery.:D

oh yeah! worth every penny!;) there is a code for 60% off motorola accesories including batteries! GIFT4U60 it is reported to work as late as yesterday.

dont get me wrong i loved my og droid but the x is worth the upgrade imo. i work in a building that kills my battery due to poor reception. with my droid1 rooted and overclocked to ulv 1.0 i would often leave with a completely dead phone. with the stock x and stock battery i never left below 30%. with the extended battery rooted but on a stock rom and standard lv 1.0 frequency i often leave with 50- 60% depending on usage. there are some who get longer life out of a charge than me, but i probably use my phone more (8 hours a day of pandora via wifi).

FYI: most x users dont use setcpu. it isn't vital like it was on the droid. with the droid we use setcpu to create profiles and to over/under clock kernels we have downloaded. with the x there is no downloading of kernels. but there are apps that will overclock the kernel that comes within it. the most common is jrummy's Droid Overclock App. it also has profiles and different govenors built in completely eliminating the need for setcpu.

I will say that the DX I have last 3x as long as my original Droid using an extended battery. All stock. Perhaps my D1 needed a new battery but my phone longevity has been a pleasant surprise. I wouldn't use a DX with it's stock battery however...no way.

Which extended battery are you talking about?

Extra Capacity Battery BH6X for DROID X (1800 mAh)

this one use the code i posted above for 60% off. it worked as late as thursday for accessories for all devices not only the x.

the stock battery in the x outlasts the droid 1 with a stock battery however.

another reason to get the x: tbh has a patch that allows you to use the 3g hotspot app for free! yeah no more ad-hoc with wireless tether. it will work only with motorola phones that came with the hotspot. patch + ps3= :)
