Goodbye for now..

Um ok Frisco, please tell me where I have jumped to conclusions or sewed any seeds of negativity about this place.. I haven't .. This is still my favorite forum, but I just wish it was easier to get on here now.. Oh and I tried the mobile skin.. I think it's worse than the normal skin on my Droid browser, I don't like the way you navigate with it..

The "jumping to conclusions" in my post is a reference to what has happened in this thread, not to what you've personally posted. I apologize if it seemed otherwise to you, as I felt we were in a discussion about the whole thing here (more than one thread, but this is the one you began).

Beginning a thread to say "good-bye" seems ok in the lounge, that is what the lounge is for given that there are "hello" threads from new users as well. But I take (mild) issue with beginning a thread to say goodbye because of actions of the people who run the place.

"Mild" issue, G.Armour, but worth bringing up because of the high appreciation we should all have for this free (or paid if we want at our option) area to learn about our devices and to teach others when we can. That's my concern in all this.

Cya, I'm out of here too since one of the moderators requested I stop contributing to the forums. :)

I never said it was due to anyone's actions, was just saying that it will make it harder for me to log in and post.. But so I sent a pm, waiting on a reply.. And to urban, this is a great place and if. They asked u not to post, u must have done something bad.

There are questions in your post there, G.Armour, that could be sent via PM to Phases or any other admin of your choice, or to all of them at once.

But more importantly, why sew seeds of negativity about the AF operators at all? Why jump to conclusions about profit motives, etc?

Who said that was a negative thing? I want this website to make money, to make things better. To me, it's a good thing.

i got tapatalk like 2 days b4 it was nix'd.... dunno if i even liked it, but the only reason i did it, was for this forum. i may be a noob, but that was clearly foolishly spent money. i may be more discriminatory about my money going forward. and as for the Phandroid app, I for 1 will be suspicious if it is released for a price, or only to premium members. to quote an earlier poster, "it all seems very apple to me"

was the issue of security fixed or not? if so why not enable it?????

Assumptions of "true motivations" by the admins here and needing "outing" are not positive seeds here.

So, "who said" is you. ;)

That's it! See if you hadn't have bought it, they would've never took it away from us.. ha ha just kidding. But no, I totally understand why they axed it due to security. And now that I've thought about it, if tapatalk had a security issue arrive, they may have fixed it, but who says another one may not develop. But if phandroid does release a paid app, I'll gladly buy it. Just wish it were already here.

But I'm sure there are many more vulnerabilities in the vbulletin software than just tapatalk. But plugging them up is a good thing.

But now that the security issue with taptalk has been fixed, the question remains. When will it be re-activated?

The thing about some users saying they are "leaving" because Tapatalk may be permanently disabled here challenges me to stop coming here and posting from my Eris, which has never had Tapatalk.

Challenge over: I won.

Sent from my Eris not Using Tapatalk. :p

It would've been funnier if you actually tried to log into it and then came back on here and asked how he did it..

Oh wait, no I'm not.. ha ha

I think its crapatalk right now cause its a paid app that I bought for this place, and now that I can't use it here, that's exactly what it is..

I know bro, I was just elaborating. Oh, just so everyone knows, on the other tapatalk thread, it was said that they will never reactivate tapatalk due to security reasons.

"AF was actually targeted by some "hackers" (if you want to call them that) which is why we disabled it. They may have fixed one of the vulnerabilities but there are still more AFAIK and in a decision for the safety of AF and it's users we won't be re enabling it." Per CRPercodani

I saw that.

So, the problems with Tapatalk have spawned a few things here:

- complaints from Tapatalk users who feel that they're being "had" because of a profit motive

- feverish work on the part of the admins and whoever else is working to accommodate (former) Tapatalk users, in two parts

1. get a Phandroid Tapatalk-like utility going
2. secure the site

If these guys really wanted to be malicious, there's other vulnerabilities they can exploit, among the most common DDOS attacks.

And that... pisses me off. I mean, I had my days of adolescence and I screwed around with "hacking" and such, but I never did any real damage, and it was always people I knew, and they knew I was breaking in. My during the teen years of "discovery", I learned it was wrong, and stopped. Sad to say, most people aren't like this. People think I'm an asshole, yet I have one of the strongest senses of morality here. People that do this, need to be traced down and slapped in the face.

Just makes it harder for us, to enjoy things we like, like tapatalk. Rawr.

/endrant, Sorry.

I agree Iowa. But why would any one want to hack this place? But maybe I was a little hasty in making this thread, I'm actually finding my phone browser ain't that bad, although I can't figure out how to upload pics from it yet. But other than that.. eh.. But I'm over 1000 posts now!
