Goodbye i7500

What device did you get after your Galaxy i7500?

Been using my Galaxy S that O2 sent me as a replacement for two weeks now and have to say it's such an awesome phone. Everything about it is so much nicer than the i7500. The screen is gorgeous (and a great size), everything is so smooth and fast. Haven't experienced any issues yet (GPS has been fine for me, no crashes, FC's etc..). Upgraded to 2.2 easily. Just so much happier to use the phone than with the i7500. I do so much more with it. Doing simple things on the i7500 used to be a real hassle, but the SGS is so simple and fast, it's great.

I recommend anyone on O2 gets their complaint email off soon as possible you guys really are missing out unfortunately. As great as the work Drakaz and others are doing to keep the i7500 alive it's still so far behind these newer devices.

Hi guys

Just signed up to quickly post my success story. Had an i7500 for a year and it was complete crap. Thanks to the archive of advice in this thread, my sudden outburst at O2 was much more calculated that it would have been and ended up being very successful. they tried to get rid of me with lies like "it's your lucky day - 2.2 was released for the galaxy just yesterday!", then offered to replace the galaxy handset, but after telling them im boycotting samsung phones completely, they softened up and sent me a Desire. Wins all round! Took me about 3 weeks in all, and would have taken a lot longer without this thread.

Thanks again, good luck to those who are still fighting!

valoukh.

Well after reading more and more posts from people on this thread who have managed to get a new phone from O2, I too have sent off my e-mail.

...I actually think I'd prefer a Galaxy S over the Desire though now. I know Samsung support for the phone may be just as terrible, but hey, I can always complain again :D

I actually work for O2 and I've got to say, well done everybody who's managed to get a decent phone out of them, I envy you and I wish I came across this thread a lot earlier!

I got my Galaxy in August 2009, paying

I think that next year you will have much better choice then now. Because we all are waiting for Gingerbread release or better Honeycomb the choices will be better. also I think that when Honeycomb comes HTC Desire will be not the best unit to get anymore.
Nexus 2 sounds better option in the future, but we must wait it's specification and reaction of other handset makers (HTC probably). So keep your eyes open for future Android releases and handsets which will support it to not get in the same f***ed up situation with upgrades. :p

Lucky me i never played on another android device, i had once a desire in my hand but didnt played with it too long.
I did on the other way played with iOS and Maemo phones, and i`m not impressed. I cant wait to start working to get a new phone, maybe SGS. I`m thinking to keep on the samsung line now that i`ve started. I dont like changing brands too often. before this i had nokia symbian for 7 years.

I hope I'll say good bye to my i7500 soon :) If anyone has FaceBook account I'd be verry happy if You'd vote for my app with an "FB like" in a Slovenian Android app contest (M:Android) - My app is here please, click 'Like' and help me win HTC Desire :) Thank You!

Go for Nexus 2 my dear bro (Sam*censored made), that's Nexus 2. :)

I was reading somewhere last week that the Nexus 2 will be made by Samsung and most likely be a Galaxy S variant. I am secretly hoping my phone blows up. Until then, I will enjoy all that GAOSP has brought. Yesterday, I transferred a picture to my wife's Omnia II via BT. That is something I thought I'd never be able to do and as soon as I can get a second antenna for my wireless signal booster, I am finally going to have high speed internet access on my laptop via usb tether ( something else I thought I'd never be able to do ).

You know what they say: "Live provides 1000 possibilities (something similar to that :p )".

Now, if only I can drive my car with the phone (envious of James Bond :p ).

I decided March is too long to wait for an upgrade so I bought the Orange SF, can't wait for it to arrive so I can see how they compare then I'll see what my options are in March.

One more to jump the ship, got a refurbished Nexus One today.
Thanks for all the help and support. I'll try not to be a stranger here.

Contract ends this month, so cancelled with O2. However managed to pick up a 2nd Hand, but great condition unlocked HTC Desire HD. This is a real pleasure to use, nice big screen, fast, just works. (Ok battery still needs charging every day, but the Galaxy has got me into the routine) .

I guess the lesson I've learnt is that its likely that whatever SW you buy your phone with, is going to be the code you have to live with. manufacturers just dont seem to updating (nexus line a rare exception) any phone.

Many thanks to the team at GAOSP (+Phandroid) for keeping me sane. You have helped save many 1000's of users.

Also Thanks to all the posters in this forum. It seem the people here are some of the most knowledgeable and helpful and are able to both ask and answer technically sound questions.

Will still pop in now and again and keep track of GAOSP releases etc.

:-)

(out of interest, can we have a poll of which devices people migrate to?? - dont know how to set that up)

Congrats on the new phone. ;)

I could add a poll to this thread, but what should the options be? There are a lot of phones out there.

I too have gotten a different phone, the Xperia X10! I got it as a gift, so how can i complain. It is an awesome phone!!! I can finally play angry birds haha!!!

But I loved my galaxy. It was my first android phone. Thank you soooooooo much Drakaz for giving me wonderful roms to make my galaxy soooo much better! I gave it to my little sister, it is her first smartphone, and she loves it now!!!

Again, thank you soooo much Drakaz, I've had so many great memories with my I7500!!!!

@DaSchmarotzer

Maybe include a multiple of phones like:
HTC Desire
HTC Desire HD
HTC Desire Z
HTC Wildfire
LG Optimus 2X
LG Optimus 3D
Samsung Galaxy S
Motorola Atrix
Nexus One
Nexus S
Samsung Galaxy II
Sony Ericsson X10
Sony Ericsson Arc
Sony Ericsson Play

Nothing for me on this list until Ice-Cream comes out and the phones/units supporting it. :p
Some of this units named here will not support Ice-Cream (for example: Xperia 10 and maybe other).

So it's still waiting option for me (unless some bad mojo strucks my Galaxy :D )
