Goodbye Triumph

triumph

Newbie
I had such a love for my triumph, Even with all the quirks and upsets. I'm moving on to the iPhone 5 because I am simply tired of the fact that every company releases phones that are up to date, But none of them KEEP them up to date. I'll 100% be back on this community however to Sign what ever petition I can. Good luck to the Developers! Without you I would've tossed my triumph in a flaming pit a long time ago!

Seriously? Non keep them up to date? xD! New OSS come out which seems like every 5 months. Hard to update all the phones and get it 100% stable.

Anyways, have fun and how you like your upgrade! :D:thumbup:

I know the feeling that is why i am moving to a nexus device always get the updates right from google no waiting or hoping you will get it

What's the point, all it does it make it harder for older favorite apps to be compatible with the newest OS, with custom roms its more compatible...

With nexus devices you get the best of both worlds you can always have the most current updates or you can use an older rom, any app that is worth a damn is normally updated very quickly but if it is not and you "must have that one app" you can put on an older rom I would much rather have the options for updates then not have them and have roms that are not complete and missing big parts of the phones functionality

And of course the Nexus is an amazing choice, But I simply wanted to go with apple because of the fact is even when there is a tiny and minor bug, A simple update (Not one to change the entire OS) would still be released.

Google does this as well. Look at the 4.2.1 update as a recent example.

Not to the extent that Apple has been doing.

Plus, Apple is supporting its phone for 3 years. Google only does it for 2.

Seems like a goofy reason to go with Apple over Google. Very few apps out there that don't work with 2.3 & many still work back to 1.6. If you buy a phone now with ICS and it was never updated, you still should have compatibility with 95% of the apps out there even 3-4 years out. ANd, it will likely get update at least once in that time frame. By the time your OS is starting to really age, it will be time to replace the hardware.

In fact, I'd argue that at the rate mobile phone hardware is improving/evolving, in two years you will absolutely want a new phone, regardless of the software version it runs...

I had to say goodbye to the triumph, because my wife lost it :) However upon replacement, I totally ditched VM because in the last year the Sprint network in my area has become absolutely abysmal and I was lucky to get 128kbps.

So I replaced it w/ a tmo mytouch 4g which supports cyanogenmod directly and within 20 minutes I had the new drop and the phone is ROCK solid. I paid $120 on ebay, with a couple of cases. My new carrier: Straighttalk, now 45 BUT I rarely see less than 2 Mbps (1 bar-ish), but in good areas it hits 7 Mbps. For grins, I threw my tmo SIM in a buds ST AT&T phone and it even looks like TMO has refarmed in my area so I could use an At&t phone down the road w/ a Tmo ST SIM.

Downside: $45 + tax (NY is no joke)
Upside: No minute limit (regularly went over 300min), voice quality way better, network WAY faster (20-30x), phone has CM 7.2 (no ancient froyo), and the CM is rock solid with holo launcher.

So as these phones die and so do the $25 plan, does it make sense to step into a clearly inferior network for $35 and 300 min or drop the extra $10 and go all in for a vastly superior network.

I could have gotten the At&t SIM, but I have so much hate for T treating me like s**t in the past and I don't want the Mrs being aggravated by some random throttle from AT&T. My take is I'm not sending a dime to those vultures.

So until Sprint gets it's network together, I'm going over to ST. And guess what, no contract so I can change whenever I want. I love prepaid....
